JOHANNESBURG: Cases of murder and attempted murder are being investigated following a shoot-out in which three suspects were killed in Parktown on Friday 24 October.
In a crime intelligence-driven operation involving SAPS Counter-intelligence Head Office, Gauteng TRT, Gauteng Anti-Gang Unit, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, DPCI Gauteng Tracking Team and private security companies, Gauteng police officers were acting on information regarding kidnapping and attempted kidnapping incidents reported in Langlaagte and Randburg, according to a police statement.
“Police spotted the suspects and attempted to stop their vehicle. A shoot-out ensued, resulting in the suspects being fatally wounded. Two unlicensed firearms were recovered at the scene,” the statement reads.
Police have opened cases of murder and attempted murder, and investigations are ongoing.
