The Give Hope Foundation of Zwelethemba held its annual gala at Nuy Valley on 23 March. The foundation was established by Hope Tyira, a professional with over two decades of experience in the mining industry.The foundation has become a beacon of light for youth development, education and community empowerment.
Originating as a small social club known as Yakha in 2014, the organisation transformed into Give Hope Foundation, driven by a vision to uplift the Zwelethemba community and beyond. With a specific focus on the area, the foundation endeavors to address various societal challenges
“We have been giving for 10 years and we realised we couldn’t just give anymore,” Tyira said, “the mindset was a critical area that we needed to target. The gala was inspired by the mere fact that we wanted to instil hope and motivation within our community.”
The annual gala served as a platform to not only raise funds, but to inspire and motivate community members.
Through strategic fundraising efforts Give Hope Foundation has achieved remarkable milestones. It raised funds to provide essential items such as school shoes, school bags, uniforms and tuition fees for children.
Additionally, such initiatives as providing tablets and laptops aim to bridge the digital divide and equip children with essential tools for academic success.
“The gala dinners are the pinnacle of what we do; it is where we also give feedback on what we have done with everything donated.”
Tyira’s extensive experience in implementing socio-economic development and environmental management programmes has been instrumental in the foundation’s success. With a positive mindset and a results-driven approach he leads a dedicated team to ensure tangible outcomes are achieved.
“We believe in the power of collaboration,” said Tyira. Give Hope Foundation collaborates with his friends, organisations and businesses to maximise impact. From supporting soccer clubs to crime prevention initiatives, the foundation actively contributes to the holistic development of the community.
Looking ahead, Give Hope Foundation aims to expand its reach beyond Zwelethemba and into the broader Breede Valley region.
“Our future plans involve collaborating with big businesses to secure funding,” Tyira revealed.
“It’s about extending our support to more communities and making a meaningful difference in the lives of youth.”
For him and his team the essence of their work lies in education and empowerment. “We come from similar backgrounds, so we understand the importance of dignity and breaking the cycle of poverty. By investing in education we are investing in the future of our community.”
