Retired history teacher Milton Pangwa delivered a keynote address shedding light on the historical development of Zwelethemba. Pangwa highlighted the origins of the township long associated with the Breede Valley, tracing its roots back to 1953 when it emerged from Sakkiesdorp.In his address Pangwa delved into the socio-political landscape of the time, emphasising the significant role played by activists from Worcester. These were union members in the textile and agriculture industries. Pangwa noted the community had experienced family separation due to the divisive classification of ethnic groups. He expounded on how apartheid policies resulted in the deliberate isolation of Zwelethemba, situating it as the furthest location from the town near the industrial area. Pangwa’s perspective on the formation of Zweletemba was critical, saying its establishment was not a cause for celebration yet he urged the audience to remember the historical context that gave rise to it. “We are not here to celebrate the formation of this location
