A word from the Lord is all a couple from Worcester needed for their wedding day to materialise.
Ebrahim and Tayla Samboe’s union is based on a foundation of their faith.
The two locals tied the knot last Saturday (23 July) and made waves when they celebrated their reception at McDonalds in High Street.
Though they did not have a cent the wedding continued because “it was an order from the Lord,” said Ebrahim Samboe.
The couple have known each other for six months and within the first month, they knew that their encounter with one another was meant to be.
“I was going through a really tough time where I lost a baby and had turned to the church for healing and that is where I noticed her.”
After meeting the woman who recently became his wife, Samboe, stayed in contact with her.
“I’m convinced God chose her to walk this journey with me. It was a spontaneous holy meeting.”
According to Samboe, two months ago they gravitated strongly towards getting married.
“We were rooted in prayer and that is what kept us going.”
After the holy matrimony, the couple did not have any plans for a reception because of lack of finances. However, as they left the church and people were congratulating them, his aunt stuck a R200 note in his pocket.
“With that I got an idea that I want to buy my wife something, even if it would be small. I also thought to myself let me buy her something to eat, because she likes eating.”
They then headed over to Mc Donalds and got something to eat.
“Our friends and family then joined us and it was a joyous occasion.”
The day was particularly special for Samboe, who is a former leader of the prominent local gang the JCYs.
He said on the day of his wedding he went back to Avian Park, to the corners where he and his former gang members used to stand.
“I was emotional because it is God who took me out of that life. My former friends are in prison and I believe God will also touch their lives.”
Their message to young people who find themselves in similar situations is: “There are so many blessings in simplicity.”
