Tourism Month in the Cape Winelands – the most popular region for repeat tourist visits – started in Zwelethemba in Worcester.

The event was held by the Cape Winelands District Municipality’s (CWDM) tourism unit, together with local tourism associations.

During the first six months of 2022, the CWDM invested almost R1,2 million in national radio and digital media campaigns to help support initiatives by the tourism and related organisations.

Wesgro confirmed in its report the Cape Winelands is the most popular region for repeat visits. The district has a slightly higher repeater rate than the general average for the province (69,6%) and the Cape Winelands was the second-most visited district after Cape Town.

“These figures tell us that once people have visited the district, they return for more,” District Mayor Elna von Schlicht said. “And we suspect the reason for this is not only due to the variety of high-quality, pocket-friendly venues, destinations and activities on offer, but mostly due to the incredible warmth of the people who serve our visitors.
