Worcester resident Garth van West was due to appear in the Worcester Regional Court again today, Thursday 28 August.
The 54-year-old was arrested on 26 January 2024 for being in possession of 95 000 child-pornography images and 6 000 pornographic videos, and entered into a plea agreement with the state.
He appeared in court on Monday the 25th, but the ruling was postponed for three days. On Thursday, the case was again postponed for ruling on Tuesday 2 September.
His arrest was part of an international crackdown on seven South Africans on charges related to child pornography, a joint operation by the South African Police, the Serial Electronic Crime Investigations Unit (SECI) and the American Homeland Security Department.
Suspects in Kraaifontein, Mitchell’s Plain and Mossel Bay were also arrested.
