: Local musician Cordiël Nathan (second from right) and his band are ready to entertain guests at the Winners Sports Bar at Golden Valley on Friday evening.

Local musician Cordiël Nathan (Witbooi) will be performing at Golden Valley on Friday 19 August.

Cordiël was orphaned at a young age but has managed to rise above his circumstances to complete school and begin his pursuits in the entertainment industry.

His love for music and the performing arts was evident at an early age and by high school, his talents had been noticed.

In Grade 10, he starred as Archie in the musical District Six presented by the Breërivier High School. Growing up in Worcester, Cordiël learned quickly to stand his ground and do things for himself.

With no interest in hanging around on the streets, he joined a dance group, Cool Lagoon, which participated in competitions and performed in places as far as Lesotho.

In 2004, he joined the band, Question Marks, and gained valuable experience in performing on stage, harmonies and a capella.

His big break came in 2015 when he competed in the talent show, SA’s Got Talent, and the GrandWest Open Mic Jazz singing competition in which he made it to the semi-finals. He also took third place in the Worcester FM and Golden Valley Open Mic Competition earlier this year.

He was then spotted by SABC 3’s Espresso presenter, Kim Cloete, and offered a role in the musical, My Wonder Years, which enjoyed success at KKNK 2016 in Oudtshoorn and Maynardville, Cape Town. In March this year, he performed at the Worcester Town Hall in his own production, Cordiël Nathan Plugged-In.

Music fans can look forward to a delightful evening of music by the charming performer at the Winners Sports Bar. Entrance is free but seats are limited so guests should arrive early to avoid missing out. The show will start at 21:00.
