Pioneer School for the visually impaired is thrilled to have received a donation to assist their students advance their technology skills.
The donation handover opened a new door of opportunities for the learners of Pioneer School.
The school received R94 000 worth of technology equipment which comprises 10 laptops, 10 laptop bags and headphones to assist the low-vision students with familiarising themselves with laptops.
The donation came from Boland Nomads and was done through the national Andrew Mentis Endowment Fund (AMEF).
According to Elizma Berlyn, the school’s marketer, Boland Nomads is an organisation that hosts golf days in a quest to assist schools as well as non-profit organisations in need of funds.
“We applied to be a beneficiary and we were approved.”
Speaking on what the donation means to the schools and learners she says: “The learners and teachers are so excited as this opens a new world of opportunities and gives our learners the same privileges as learners in main- stream schools.”
