Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary in McGregor hosted a workshop for animal welfare workers and people interested in holistic animal welfare yesterday (Wednesday 30 September).
The event, presented by Annemarie van Zijl, donkey welfare manager at Eseltjiesrus, and veterinary nurse Theanette Staal, offered attendees the opportunity to learn to look at the entire life situation of an animal when intervention is considered, while it will also create a platform to exchange ideas.
It also introduced, discussed and tested a new holistic animal welfare assessment tool, The Hand, introduced at the African Donkey Welfare Conference in Gauteng in April.
Animal welfare workers in the Breede Valley can now learn to use this powerful diagnostic aid.
Interested organisations and people interested in future events or the new assessment tool can phone Eseltjiesris Donkey Sanctuary on 023 625 1593 or email info@donkeysanctuary.co.za
