With more than a week into the school holiday, it is the time of the holidays where parents may need some help on how to keep their kids bus. To top it all off it is winter, so the chance of going to the park everyday is not looking good at all.
Before cabin fever hits, kids can try some of these boredom busters:
-Visit your local library. This is the perfect weather to get a book or three and snuggle up with a lovely hot chocolate.
-While we are on the subject of books why not keep a holiday diary. Buy a notebook, cover with fun materials and encourage your child to write in it everyday. If your child is younger than 8 get them to draw, paint or colour.
-Grab your helmet and take a ride around the neighbourhood to get the energy levels up.
-Visit some of the Breede Valley’s beautiful gardens such as the Karoo National Botanical Gardens or make a trip to the Matroosberg Mountain Catchment Area for some fun in the snow.
-Make some sock puppets by gluing wool to the top of an old sock. Use a permanent marker and different scrap materials to make eyes, nose and mouth. And there you have it, a puppet show!
–Baking. Kids love to be involved in activities and this is the perfect way to keep them entertained while learning and having fun. Bake your favourite biscuits and let them decorate it.
–Board Games. revive the old fashion fun of playing games such as Snakes and Ladders, Monopoly or Chess.
It is important to keep them young and inquisitive minds stimulated as well as engaged. With a bit of imaginations this winter holidays can be one to remember for the entire family!
