The Public Service Commission will host the Citizens’ Forum in partnership with Witzenberg Local Municipality, Government Communication Information Service (GCIS) and the Department of Local Government Integrated Service Delivery Unit.

The Witzenberg Municipality has four sub-municipal areas, from which the identified Tulbagh community is one area and the focus of this outreach was on Ward 7 and 11 of the municipality.

The PSC is of the view that the Citizens’ Forum will enable community members to engage with various institutions of government on issues affecting service delivery in respect of the following, but not limited to:. Poor sanitation;. Lack of access to medical-care services;. Applications for identity documents and birth certificates;. Pension and grants . High crime rates and drug abuse among the youth.

Government departments will be provided with an opportunity to outline their plans for addressing the service-delivery challenges raised by communities, showcase their services and provide assistance to the communities on-site. All departments and institutions have been invited to bring the required services and relevant information on the day of the Citizens’ Forum.

An invitation has been extended to the MEC for Local Government and other MEC, heads of department and senior managers.

The event will take place on Wednesday 8 March at 09:00 at the Witzenville community hall in Tulbagh.
