The ANC retained the seat held since the Local Government Elections in 2021 with 47,43% of the votes. The voter turnout for the by-election was 60% compared to the 42.39% in the 2021 election.

The seat was contested by the ANC, Democratic Alliance (27,86%), the Patriotic Alliance (20,92%) and the Langeberg Independent Party (3,79%).

A by-election was also held in the neighbouring Swellendam’s Ward 6. The Patriotic Alliance won the ward with 50.69% of the votes. The voter turnout was 58,46% compared to 48,86% in the 2021 Local Government Elections. The ANC received 30.38% of the votes and the DA 18,94% of the votes.
