Another gun is off the streets after the Worcester CPU members confiscated an unlicensed firearm.
According to Warrant Officer Vathiswa Jacobs the Worcester CPU was busy with regular patrols in Riverview Flats on Thursday 3 February when they received information about where an unlicensed firearm is.
“The officers followed up the information and went to Flat in N Block, Riverview where they saw the suspect looking suspicious outside the residence,” says Jacobs.
According to her the suspect turned around and ran back into the residence but the police went after him. In the bathroom he dropped a white plastic bag in the toilet.
“The bag was searched in front of him and inside there was a black Luger 9 mm pistol, with one (1) magazine and twenty (20) 9 mm rounds was found. The suspect was arrested for possession of firearm without licence and possession of ammunition without licence and was detained at the Worcester police station,” explains Jacobs.
Once charged the suspect will appear in the Worcester Magistrates’ Court on the mentioned charges.
