The House of Rstar Jiu Jitsu Club in Paternoster once again proved their mettle this past weekend when all five athletes from the club walked away with medals. They participated in the Apex Jiu Jitsu competition in Somerset West. The club has been affiliated for five years.
Jiu Jitsu provides young people from Paternoster with the opportunity to master this sport. Respect, humility, and continuous self-improvement are their motto and, according to proud coach Wimpie Rossouw, these values are strictly upheld. He was especially proud when three coaches and one referee complimented him on the athletes’ tidy attire, good behaviour, talent, and sportsmanship displayed by the children. Rossouw said this was almost even more important than the medals.
The club is a joint venture which is supported by the Paternoster Group and Friends of Hoopsig. The NGO holds various other partnerships to capacitate its programme with professional skills and knowledge to enrich its after school programme of alternative education for learners.
