Returning to the West Coast for yet another free dental clinic, Dr Joseph Joshua, is still going strong.
He has a dental practice in the Netherlands, but annually returns to his home town to provide free tooth extractions.
Joshua’s first clinic was held in 2012 in Saldanha. Later, he expanded to other local towns, with thousands making use of this free service.
This year the dental clinic will start on Monday 4 August and conclude on Saturday 16 August.
Joshua said this initiative is important to the communities on the West Coast, especially to those who cannot afford basic things.
“If you cannot afford to feed yourself and you are unemployed, how can you travel to Vredenburg to get the basic service at the Louwville clinic? Still, the state treats only the worst problem first on an appointment service,” he said.
This is why Joshua wants to step in and assist as best he can. Patients will receive morning soup and bread along with a hot dog, juice and fruits later in the day.
Patients looking to visit the clinic must remember to bring their identity documents, and children’s clinic cards should also be brought along.
From Monday 4 to Friday 8 August the dental clinic will be at Dial Rock in Saldanha, Monday the 11th to Wednesday the 13th at Steenberg’s Cove Hall and Thursday 14 to Saturday 16 August at the Laaiplek Noordhoek Civic.
