On Friday 29 November 2024, at 12:30, a partially-decomposed body was found of an unknown male at Nature Reserve, Old Mamre Darling Road, Mamre. The deceased was wearing a green T-shirt and navy-blue pants.
The body was discovered by a woodcutter.
It is unknown how long the body had been there before it was discovered. A post-mortem was conducted to determine cause of death and identity.
The report has not yet been released. An inquest was registered and under investigation by Detective Siyabonga Madikane.

Also, to give a sample of their DNA for positive-identification purposes.
Atlantis police were also investigating an inquest case in which skeletal remains were found on an open field behind the Zangiri scrapyard in Charles Duminy Road, Industrial area, Atlantis.
According to reports, on 8 April 2024, at 18:30, police had received information from a source; while walking through the field on his way to the scrapyard he came across human remains (human skull and bones).
On Friday 7 March this year the decomposed body of a male person was found in bushes near Witsand, and community members were urged to go to the police station if they know about a missing person to get a DNA test done.
