Teachers at Saxonsea Primary will now be well prepared when an emergency arises.
The 42 educators at the school received first-aid training from Fire and Emergency Safety Academy (FESA).
Gregehano Willemse, managing member of FESA, said principal Gary Markus was the first school representative to approach the academy to present a First Aid level 1 course to his staff, to ensure that they are ready in the event of an emergency, and be able to stabilise the scene until the emergency services arrive.
The course, presented over two days, included theoretical and practical learning.
Willemse says this approach will ensure the students are fully able to apply what they have learnt. The course is accredited with the Department of Labour and certification is valid for three years.
The academy, which is locally owned, opened its doors in 2015.
