The Mayoral Urban Regeneration Programme (MURP) Area North division, in collaboration with Subcouncil 1 and the Department of Community Safety, honoured 41 neighbourhood-watch (NHW) members of Atlantis who attended capacity building over three days on Thursday 8 June.

Project manager Samora Mamba said the neighbourhood watch members had requested this training, which covered the learning areas such as Conflict Resolution and Management, Victim Empowerment Support and Business Planning.

He said the objective is to empower at least 60 community members in these areas, the result of evaluating, learning and understanding the training and capacity-building needs and priorities of safety and service-delivery community ambassadors, who would also receive a stipend for their full attendance.

Mamba said it is understood such an incentive would ensure the success of such a project.

Certificates were handed to members by the two ward councillors and a platform for networking was created.
