WELKOM – The International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI), Southern African Branch, awarded Constable S.G. Bulose of the Welkom Vehicle Crime Identification Unit (VCIU) with the Best Carjacking Investigator of the Year Award for his outstanding investigative work on a complex carjacking case.

The prestigious awards ceremony was held at Weesgerus in Modimolle, Limpopo, on 29 October.

Meticulous Investigation Praised

According to the citation read during the event, Constable Bulose’s meticulous investigation led to the arrest of two suspects whose bail applications were successfully opposed until the conclusion of the trial.

His high-quality investigation ensured a strong case presentation in court, resulting in both accused being found guilty and each sentenced to 25 years of effective imprisonment.

International Recognition and Rewards

Constable Bulose received a prestigious trophy he won a fully sponsored trip to Canada in September 2026, where he will attend the IAATI International Seminar.

All travel and accommodation costs, along with his membership fees, will be covered by IAATI.

Provincial Leadership Commends Achievement

The Provincial Commissioner of the Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane, congratulated Constable Bulose on his achievement and dedication to fighting vehicle-related crimes.

“We commend Constable Bulose for his exceptional investigative skills and for ensuring that dangerous criminals are behind bars. His achievement is a testament to the professionalism and commitment within our ranks and serves as inspiration to all men and women in blue. It shows that hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed,” said Lieutenant General Motswenyane.

The award recognises the ongoing efforts by South African police to combat vehicle-related crimes through professional investigative work and successful prosecution of offenders.
