WATCH | Indonesia’s first giant panda set to charm the public


BOGOR, INDONESIA – Satrio Wiratama, Indonesia’s first giant panda born in the country, is growing well ahead of his public debut later this month.

He was born in November last year at Taman Safari Indonesia in Cisarua, West Java, to a pair of giant pandas on loan from China.

The cub is reported to be thriving and is expected to attract major public interest when he is officially introduced to visitors.

According to The Jakarta Post, “Satrio Wiratama” is a distinguished Indonesian name that means “a noble, brave knight” or “a warrior who fights with honour, courage, and noble character”.
