In a swift and coordinated operation, police in Sasolburg arrested three suspects, aged between 34 and 52, in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in Koppies on Wednesday 12 November.

The incident occurred around 13:47 when law enforcement received reports of an armed robbery, during which the suspects made off with property and a white Nissan Micra, valued at approximately R145 000.

Acting on the information, officers spotted the stolen vehicle on the R59, initiating a high-speed chase that ended when the suspects attempted to evade capture by veering onto a gravel road.

“We responded quickly to the situation, and thanks to our collaboration with various units and the use of drone technology, we were able to apprehend one suspect near the vehicle,” says spokesperson Sgt. Josephine Rani of the police.

The search continued, leading to the capture of the remaining two suspects shortly after. During the operation, police recovered the stolen vehicle, several pieces of stolen property, and an unlicensed firearm. All items have been seized for further investigation.

The suspects are set to face serious charges, including armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm, and will appear in the Parys Magistrate’s Court soon.
