Barbara Fraatz (58), a master swimmer from Kroonstad, participated in the 39th South Africa Masters Swimming Championships that was held in March at the St. Stithians College Aquatics Centre in Sandton, Johannesburg. She competed in 14 swimming events and won five gold, four silver, and two bronze medals. Fraatz also swam the 1 km open water swim that was held at the Prime View Adventure and Leisure Resort in Olifantsfontein. She completed the swim in 18:35 and came first in 55 to 59 years age category. In the open water freestyle relay event for women, Fraatz and her team were overall first. Photo: Supplied
