In a shocking incident that unfolded on Sunday, 5 October, Ficksburg police apprehended a 32-year-old suspect from Ionia Farm following the alleged murder of his 36-year-old wife.
According to police reports, emergency services were called to the farm at approximately 11:00, responding to a report of a potential homicide.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered the victim’s body inside a shack, with a severe wound to her left eye. A blood-stained iron rod, believed to be the murder weapon, was found on a nearby table.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody at the crime scene. At this stage, investigators have yet to determine the motive behind this tragic incident.
Legal proceedings will commence with the suspect scheduled to appear before the Ficksburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 7 October, on a charge of murder.
