Dihlabeng Mall in Bethlehem, has announced the launch of its new brand campaign, Your Story is Our Story, aimed at celebrating the unity and strength of the local community.

This initiative seeks to deepen the mall’s engagement beyond retail, emphasizing its commitment to being a genuine friend to the residents it serves.

To bring the Your Story is Our Story campaign to life, the mall invited community members to participate in a photo shoot held on-site. Families, mall tenants, staff, and local residents were encouraged to showcase their stories. The resulting images, edited in a striking black and white aesthetic, reflect authenticity and engagement. These visuals have already begun to appear on the mall’s social media platforms, as well as on murals and posters within the center, with plans for further outreach through ongoing community competitions.

Impacting lives beyond retail

In its early stages, the campaign has already made a notable impact. One of its first initiatives involved distributing food parcels to families in need within a nearby community, with support provided by a local house church. The mall’s team also reached out to rural families living in informal housing, offering essential supplies. In a heartwarming gesture, local golf caddies were surprised with food parcels during a prize-giving ceremony, which resonated deeply with both the recipients and the community members present.

The campaign further spread goodwill by providing hot drinks to the community. Initially planned as a small gesture of sharing soup with tenants and staff, the effort expanded. Hundreds of cups of soup and bread rolls were distributed, alongside hot chocolates given to matric students preparing for their exams, reinforcing community support during a critical academic phase.

A growing initiative

The campaign has also introduced various thoughtful initiatives, such as distributing cappuccinos and cupcakes to local elders, and creating care boxes tailored for teenage girls and newborns in state hospitals. Additionally, joy boxes have been shared with individuals recognized for their acts of kindness, celebrating positivity within the community.

Looking forward, Dihlabeng Mall plans to continue these surprise and delight moments as the festive season approaches and as the new school year begins.

To create the “Your Story is Our Story” campaign materials, the centre invited the people it values most, it’s shoppers, to feature in the campaign. A photo shoot took place at the mall where young and old, families, tenants, team members and other people were all invited to participate.
