The swimmers of Welkom Aquatics delivered an exceptional performance at the South African Regional Age Group Championships, bringing their competitive season to a successful close.

The level 3 competition took place from 26 to 29 March, followed by the level 2 competition from 30 March to 1 April.

In level 2, Dirk Vermaak produced a standout performance. Competing in nine events, he qualified for all nine finals and achieved seven personal best times. His efforts were rewarded with an impressive medal tally of 4 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal, securing his position as the top swimmer in the 14-year-old age group.

Lynise Erasmus also represented the club with distinction, competing in five events. She achieved four personal best times and advanced to two finals.

In level 3, Levi Bouwer delivered a strong and consistent performance, earning 1 silver and 1 bronze medal while recording 7 personal best times.

Travis O’Tool contributed to the team’s success with two personal best swims.

These championships marked the final club galas of the season.

The Welkom Aquatics Committee commended the swimmers for their discipline, perseverance, and sportsmanship, noting that these results are a reflection of the collective effort invested throughout the season.
