The SANBS’s Kroonstad branch honoured the individuals and organisations helping to save lives through regular blood donation drives during its annual site contact function.
The appreciation event, held in Welkom on 3 July, brought together site contacts of businesses, schools, tertiary institutions, churches and community organisations across Welkom and the surrounding areas.
It celebrated their outstanding commitment to organising regular blood drives, encouraging voluntary blood donation, and supporting the SANBS in its ongoing efforts to maintain a safe and sustainable blood supply. Their continued partnership plays a vital role in ensuring that hospitals have the blood needed to treat accident victims, surgical patients and those living with serious medical conditions.

Bronwyn Petersen, donor relations practitioner at the Kroonstad branch, thanked the site contacts for their unwavering commitment to hosting blood drives, promoting blood donation and – in many cases – donating blood themselves.
“Blood drives hosted at workplaces, schools and community organisations are essential to maintaining a sustainable blood supply. Every donation counts, every donation matters, and together you are helping to save countless lives,” said Petersen.
The SANBS encourages eligible South Africans who can become regular blood donors, adding that a single donation could help save up to three lives.
