On 19 April, Jan Jacobs and his Handjie Vol team tackled the dangerous potholes in Buuren Street, Welkom. These included a massive unmarked hole in the middle of the road. (See the photo of Jacobs, standing in the hole.) At the end of the day it was a task well done, and the holes were all filled up. Jacobs and his team work under the auspices of the Welkom Business Forum. They also cleaned the rubbish dump close to Ararat Street. “There are too many streets to name with sewage fountains flooding them,” says Jacobs.
