The current Morning Star Day Care Centre at the Kopano Complex, Welkom, is still fully functional and caters for between 90 to 100 children each weekday. The Kutlwanong Centre, on the other hand, has ceased to exist in its present form. Living Hope is in the process of introducing its own programmes there, the first being their “Family Strengthening” initiative.
This initiative seeks to build resilience in children and families through the provision of early intervention services, first thousand days’ work, disability support groups, gender-based violence (GBV) work, trauma care-counselling as well as advocacy for vulnerable children.
Training for “First Thousand Days” took place in February, with Doilene Maisiri coming from Living Hope, Cape Town, to conduct it.
