UIITENHAGE High School’s only mode of transportation until now has been the trusty, yet severely battered Toyota Siyaya mini bus, purchased in 2005. But, this has changed, as the school last week took possession of its brand new Toyota Ses’fikile mini bus.
“The purchase was long overdue as the school battled to accommodate learners’ transportation requirements to various sport, cultural as well as other co-curricular events,” said Shaun Petrus, educator and communications officer at Uitenhage High School.
The acquisition of this notably precious asset has been made possible by the contribution of school fees by parents, as well as various fund-raisers so very charitably supported by members of the public.
“The management and governors of the institution wish to extend their sincere and unequivocal gratitude and appreciation for the magnanimous support of everyone associated with the school,” said Petrus.
Building of additional classrooms
Former learners and all other stakeholders of the school are reminded that the project to build additional classrooms at the school is already well underway.
The school’s alumnus organization, UHPPTA (Uitenhage High Past Pupils and Teachers’ Association) has already contributed a substantial R100 000 towards this worthy cause, whilst individuals and matric class groups have also made significantly generous contributions towards this much needed development.
