Algoa Rally Club invites spectators to support its rally cars in action and enjoy competitive rallying which will take place in the Despatch and Kariega areas on Saturday, 30 April.

The plan is to bring rally back to the loyal motor sport supporters, who do not have to travel far to see some of the best competitive drivers and navigators in action.

The rally will be known as the Triple L Plant Hire Rally supported by the community of Despatch, starting at Innibos Lapa on Saturday morning with scrutineering and preparation. The cars will then head toJachtvlakte at 10:45 followed by a special tar stage at Despatch SuperSpar from 12:00 to 14:00 with repeated stages of approximately 80 kilometres of racing.

Spectators are invited to the viewing point at Jachtvlakte overlooking the pan and surrounding areas.

There will also be viewing points at Innibos and at Despatch SuperSpar.

The Triple L Plant hire event is expecting about 20 rally cars from the Eastern Cape including out- of province campaigners. The front runners will be competing for the overall win and class honours for championship points.

Drivers and navigators will have to keep a level head with the challenging all terrain stages. Rain tyres will be fitted should it rain.

Rally cars expected will consist of Volkswagen Polos, Golfs, Toyotas, Ford Escorts ranging from 1200cc to 3000cc 16 Valve, turbos, and normal aspirated engines.

Daniel Pienaar Technical High School will be competing with a Volkswagen Polo turbo charged 1200cc and a Golf 1400cc, driven and serviced by school pupils who prepare these cars as part of the school’s technical training division and will be anxious to perform in front of hometown supporters.
