A 35-year-old woman was shot and killed this morning while on her way to work in Kraaifontein, in what police have confirmed is a murder investigation.
The shooting occurred at about 07:00 at a known crime hotspot on the corner of Boesak Street and Botfontein Road in Summerville. According to reports, three suspects fled the scene after the attack.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the surrounding community, where residents have expressed outrage and fear over the brazen attack in a public street.
Details surrounding the motive for the shooting remain unclear at this stage. It is not yet known whether the woman was the victim of a targeted attack or a random act of violence. Police have not yet confirmed whether any arrests have been made or whether any suspects have been identified.
The Kraaifontein police station confirmed the case in a brief statement, saying the matter is currently under investigation. No further details have been released.

In a separate shooting on 29 May in Mfeketho Street, Wallacedene, a gunman opened fire on a group of people, fatally wounding a 50-year-old man and injuring three others — aged between five and 30 before fleeing the scene.
