In another bloody weekend in Cape Town, two brothers were shot and killed in Uitsig while three others were wounded.

Brothers Luchen Samuels (19) and Angelo Hufke (32) were gunned down when unknown gunmen opened fire on them on Saturday.

Two counts of murder

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg, Ravensmead police registered two counts of murder and three of attempted murder, following a shooting incident that took place at about 20:45 in Uitsig Avenue.

“Three others, which include two men 19 and 29 and a 16-year-old girl were wounded. Police officers were patrolling in the area when they saw people running. They were informed by the public that several people were shot by unknown suspects who fled the scene. The 19- and 32-year-old victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were transported to a medical facility for treatment. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation,” says Twigg.

Twigg also confirmed the police are investigating the murder of a taxi driver in Delft on Friday. “Delft police registered a murder case for investigation following a shooting incident on Friday 27 March at about 21:20 on the corner of Delft Main Road and Tamarisk Street, where a 44-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded. Police officers responded to a complaint of a shooting, and upon arrival on the scene, they found the victim next to his minibus taxi with gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The suspect/s fled the scene and are yet to be arrested. The motive for the attack is believed to be taxi-related,” says Twigg.
