Early morning robbery at Kuils River petrol station: Three suspects nabbed

Three men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place at a petrol station in Kuils River in the early hours of Friday morning (12 September).

According to provincial police spokesperson Sgt Wesley Twigg Mfuleni police officers acted swiftly after receiving information around 04:00 about suspects involved in a robbery at a business located on Stellenbosch Arterial Road.

Officers, working on a description provided to them, launched a search and spotted the suspects fleeing in the direction of Riverside Gardens. The suspects, aged between 24 and 40, were apprehended shortly afterwards.

Multiple charges

During the arrest police recovered a 9 mm pistol with ammunition as well as a speed-point machine (used for card payments) believed to have been stolen during the robbery.

The suspects are facing multiple charges, including possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of stolen property and armed robbery.

Twigg said that once formally charged the trio will appear in the Kuils River Magistrates’ Court to face the charges.
