A single mother needs assistance after storms rips roof off.

A desperate single mother of two from Eindhoven in Delft is calling on the community for assistance after her house’s roof was blown off during the storm raging in Cape Town since Sunday.

Bang

Jennica Hendricks says she initially heard the roof plates vibrating, but didn’t think anything of it. “My 10-year-old son was sick so he was home with me. I went to the toilet and I just heard a load bang, thinking that something happened in the road outside. When I got out of the toilet, I saw the roof was off and the rain was just pouring into the house. I just started to cry, because I was thinking of my son who is not well. I ran out into road, confused and dazed and was just screaming,” says Hendricks.

Damage

According to Hendricks, everything in the house got water damage, including the electrical appliances. “I am pleading for anyone who can assist us to get our house fixed and our lives back on track. We didn’t expect this and nothing prepared us for what happened. Every small bit will help us rebuild,” says Hendricks.

Please contact Hendricks on 073 417 9262 if you can assist in any way.
