Western Cape police are seeking the public’s help to find the killers of a person whose body was discovered burnt beyond recognition in an open field in Delft on Thursday 24 September.

According to police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, the Delft police registered a murder case following the discovery of an unidentified burnt-out body at approximately 09:10 in an open field parallel to Hindle Road, Delft South. “The body was burnt beyond recognition. A member of the community reported a burnt body lying on the open field at Delft police station. There was a burnt tyre on top of the body. A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death, race and gender. Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation,” says Van Wyk.

Troublemaker

Online reports suggest that the deceased was a known troublemaker in the area and that his death was part of a mob justice attack. TygerBurger could not independently verify the reports.
