Roadworks at the Okavango Road and Hennop Road intersection in Kraaifontein and Durbanville got under way on Friday 21 August, with completion earmarked for 15 December.

TygerBurger was informed that construction will run from 07:30 to 17:00, Monday to Friday, and 07:30 to 14:00 on Saturdays. The upgrades include road and intersection widening, stormwater drainage installation, upgraded intersection signalling and improved streetlighting.

Mayco member for urban mobility Rob Quintas said the roadworks were identified through the City’s development approval requirements for a new development in the area, and would accommodate the increased traffic from further development in Kraaifontein and Durbanville.

The same number of traffic lanes will remain available throughout the project, but congestion can still be expected. The City is urging residents to use alternative routes where possible.
