Three students from the Academy of Acrobats and Dance in Durbanville excelled at the national championships.

They proudly represented the Western Cape at the Acrobatic Sport South Africa (ASSA) National Championships, held in Johannesburg, where they competed against some of the country’s top acrobatic athletes.

Podium finish

The academy celebrated a podium finish when 14-year-old Kyra Kriel secured an outstanding third place in the highly competitive Level 7 (ages 13 to 15) category, competing against 12 athletes.

Kira Voges competed in the Level 2 (ages 9 to 10) category and came 12th out of 23 competitors.

Ava Crous took part in the Level 3 (ages 8 and younger) division, finishing 14th in a field of 19 participants.

Excellent performances

“The Academy of Acrobats and Dance congratulates Kira, Ava and Kyra on their dedication, perseverance and excellent performances,” says dance instructor Zelda Tandy, owner of the Academy of Acrobats and Dance.

“Representing the Western Cape at a national championship is a significant achievement, and the academy is proud of the commitment and sportsmanship shown by all three athletes,” she says.
