The women from the non-profit company Coin Care partnered with Ackermans for Mandela Day this year.

Ackermans generously sponsored the materials for the project, and the Coin women volunteered their time and sewing skills to make toiletry bags. On Friday 17 July, Coin Care hosted a Mandela Day event for the staff at Ackermans’ Head Office in Kuils River.

Staff stepped away from their desks for 67 minutes to bead and pack the toiletry bags made by the Coin women.

Dignity

“It was inspiring to see so many hands and hearts working together to bring dignity, hope and smiles to those in need. This collaboration is a wonderful reminder that when communities and businesses unite, we can make a meaningful difference,” said Coin Care resource director, Cheryl Johnson.

“A heartfelt thank you to Ackermans for believing in Coin Care NPC and for partnering with us to spread kindness this Mandela Day. Together, we are serving, uplifting and bringing hope to our communities – one act of kindness at a time.”

The toiletry bags will go to patients at Tygerberg Hospital who are admitted without any toiletries.

Ackermans also donated 200 toiletry bags, baby and children’s clothing, as well as dry soup ingredients that Coin Care will distribute to cancer patients and some of the Coin women who run soup kitchens.
