The Baxter Theatre is transforming December into a month-long festival of entertainment, featuring top South African comedians and a brand-new musical leading up to its famous New Year’s Eve celebration.
The prestigious venue’s festive season program showcases some of the country’s most beloved comedy talents alongside fresh theatrical offerings, promising something for every taste during the summer holidays.
Marc Lottering’s musical magic continues
Colleen The Musical, Marc Lottering’s fourth musical comedy, takes centre stage as the theatre’s major festive attraction. The popular production runs until 7 February next year, featuring regular evening performances and Saturday matinees.
The beloved comedian’s latest creation promises the same wit and charm that has made his previous musicals local favourites, offering audiences a perfect blend of humour and heart.

The festive lineup boasts an impressive roster of South African comedy royalty. Riaad Moosa brings his acclaimed show What’s the Point? to the Baxter stage from 23 December to 3 January next year, ensuring plenty of laughs during the height of the holiday season.
Nik Rabinowitz continues his solo show run from 2 to 20 December, performing Tuesday through Saturday at 19:00, while Schalk Bezuidenhout’s Krismis Bonanza provides Afrikaans comedy entertainment until 20 December.
New Year’s Eve party returns
The theatre’s iconic New Year’s Eve party promises to be the perfect way to welcome 2026. The celebration kicks off with special 21:00-performances of both Colleen The Musical and What’s the Point? on 31 December.
After the shows, the party moves into full swing with DJ Chad Chitter providing the soundtrack for dancing, while guests enjoy a complimentary glass of bubbly or orange juice. The night culminates with a traditional midnight balloon drop.
For those who prefer to join just the party festivities, party-only tickets are available for R100, with access starting from 22:30.
