For the past four years, civic association Highbury Foundation has self-funded its annual Youth Day and Women’s Day five-a-side football tournaments hosted at the Sarepta Sport Complex in Kuils River.
The foundation is appealing for sponsorship to save its Women’s Day five-a-side football tournament after funding shortfalls forced the cancellation of its Youth Day event.
“These events are a lifeline for our community, keeping our youth engaged, active, and inspired. Unfortunately, due to a severe lack of immediate funding, we have been forced to cancel our upcoming Youth Day event. It was a heartbreaking decision, but we refuse to let our youth down twice,” says Winston Middleton, chair of Highbury Foundation.

Women’s Day
The association is now focused on securing support for its Women’s Day tournament, scheduled for Monday 10 August, and is looking for a sponsorship partner to help cover costs.
It is seeking to raise R4 500 to cover tournament operational and event costs. In-kind contributions of medals and refreshments for players are also welcome. Sponsors can expect community brand visibility and direct social impact at grassroots level. The association welcomes referrals to businesses looking to support grassroots sports.
