Vissershok – Two pilots and a passenger sustained minor injuries when a Piper PA-28-180 aircraft crashed at Morningstar airfield in Vissershok, north of Cape Town, on Tuesday morning (22 September).
According to the Accidents and Incidents Investigations Division (AIID), the aircraft, registered as ZS-EXP, was destroyed in the crash.
The crew had planned an hour-building flight from Morningstar airfield to Stellenbosch airfield.
AIID says preliminary information indicates that the aircraft stalled moments after take-off and crashed within the airfield perimeter fence.
AIID will conduct a desktop investigation and will not send an investigator to the scene.
