Turkish Airlines to boost flights to Cape Town to 10 a week

Cape Town is set to benefit from increased air connectivity with Istanbul, with Turkish Airlines boosting its direct service from seven to 10 flights per week from 26 October.

The additional flights will strengthen one of Cape Town’s key long-haul routes, opening the city to a broader pool of visitors, investors and business travellers from Turkey and beyond.

James Vos, Mayco member for Economic Growth and Tourism, welcomed the announcement, saying improved air access plays a key role in growing the city’s economy.

“More flights mean more opportunities to attract visitors, strengthen trade, encourage investment and support local jobs,” said Vos. “Better connectivity also makes it easier for businesses to reach international markets.”

Partnerships

Vos said partnering with airlines forms an important part of his portfolio and that building strong relationships with carriers is central to the city’s economic growth strategy.

“Working with airlines is one of the aspects of my portfolio that I particularly enjoy. Building strong partnerships and showcasing Cape Town’s value proposition helps create opportunities that benefit our city and its residents.”

The City of Cape Town has been actively working to grow its air links with key international markets, with direct connectivity seen as a critical driver of tourism, trade and investment.

Vos thanked Turkish Airlines for their continued investment in Cape Town and all partners working to strengthen the city’s global connectivity.
