On Thursday 17 February, Ward 85 Councillor Chantal Cerfontein donated some much-needed books to the newly established library at the Dr GJ Joubert Primary School in Strand, at which the school expressed immense gratitude. The school library, which officially opened on Thursday 24 February (“New chapter for GJ Joubert’s book, DistrictMail, Thursday 3 March), is a collaborative effort among the school, Gordon’s Bay Lions Club and Strong School Community Collaborative in response to a dire need in the community after a fire had gutted the Suiderstrand Library last year. The school library has since made a call for more book donations.
