A will is a critical legal document that can help you ensure your belongings are distributed according to your wishes after you have passed away. It is important to have a will drafted by a legal practitioner because they have the necessary expertise to ensure all the legal requirements are met.
Each year, a number of attorneys participate in the National Wills Week. This year, National Wills Week is from 12 to 16 September, and participating law firms and legal practitioners will be drafting wills at no cost. During this week interested members of the public are urged to visit Legal Aid SA offices to have a valid and professional will drafted, at no cost.
Members of the public are reminded that when visiting the Legal Aid SA office they must please bring: . a ID document;. a list of what you own – this could be property, clothing items, family heirlooms, funds, etcetera; and. the details of the person(s) you wish to leave these assets to.
National Wills Week seeks to raise awareness among the public of the importance of drafting a will. If you do not yet have a will, or want to update your will, be sure to visit Legal Aid SA for assistance.
