Having fun and being fun may just be the answer to reaching the age of 100 years on this planet. Bess Barr, originally from Darling, celebrated this milestone on 7 November.

The Darling Presbyterian church celebrated the life of one of its most longstanding congregants.

Barr lived in Darling for 40 years before moving to Cape Town last year. She still sees herself as a Darlingite, according to Rev Rodney Brits.

“Bess is one of those fun people whose mind is still as sharp as a newly-made razor blade,” added Brits. “Her wit is something to behold and funny. There was much fun to be had by all at our celebration, and Bess received many gifts from the church and Darling community.”
