New Breed Empowerment recently held a march against gender-based Violence (GBV). Five stops strategically identified to have maximum impact were in rural areas. Two stops were made in both Happy Valley and Mountain View, with one stop on the border between them. Each stop was accompanied by dance, singing, motivational and Christian speeches and testimonies. At each stop flyers with a strong message against GBV were handed out as were motivational scripture and contact information. During the march posters were held aloft as music was played. The speakers conveyed messages of hope and motivation as they spoke from experience and gave advice and provided tools for speaking up and addressing issues in households and the community. The dances portrayed a spirit of freedom and opportunity and attracted people and children, while the songs had a sympathetic effect on the women, intended get them out of their comfort zones.
