Bonnievale police, in collaboration with the Safer Schools Project, conducted a preventative programme at Bonnievale High School on Thursday 22 September. In this they were also assisted by the police’s K9 Unit, the Community Policing Forum and Happy Valley Mountain View Neighbourhood Watch. The learners were informed about the dangers of drug use and the consequences of dealing in drugs, and they were given a demonstration by Sergeant Swanepoel of a search execution by his narcotics dog. The Vispol Commander, Warrant Officer Romeo Julies, also played his part in motivating learners to stay away from drugs, and Sergeant Sarah Julies, social crimes officer, thanked school principal Stefan Prince for the opportunity to educate his learners about the dangers of drug abuse.
