A suspected house burglar was fatally wounded and another remains at large following a house break-in at a residence on Tiger Street in Kraaifontein on Thursday morning 2 October.
At approximately 11:15, Titanium Securitas received reports via the Zoo Park Neighbourhood Watch group regarding gunshots in the area. Armed response and crime prevention units were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate that two male suspects had unlawfully entered the home. The incident unfolded when the homeowner returned and noticed the intruders inside the premises.
“The resident reported that when he confronted them, the suspects exited the house and attempted to attack him with a knife and a golf club. In self-defence, he fired multiple shots towards the suspects, striking at least one of them.,” says Titanium spokesperson, Kobus Kotze. “A short distance from the scene, one suspect was found and had succumbed to his injuries. Unfortunately, the second suspect is still at large.”Kraaifontein police and detectives were on the scene to conduct a full investigation into the matter.
