Following their extraordinary success in the 2025 Outstanding Cambridge Awards, St Charles College boys Divaar Pillay and Shahil Maharaj shone at the prestigious Cambridge Awards. They were accompanied by their proud parents and grandparents and attended the official Cambridge Awards Ceremony at the Two Oceans Aquarium, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, last Thursday.
Representing the College at this distinguished event were also Mr Holcomb and Mrs Charlotte Pillay. They joined in celebrating some of South Africa’s highest-achieving Cambridge learners. The elegant evening featured fine dining, inspiring addresses from Cambridge organisers, and a shared spirit of academic excellence at the highest level.
Divaar and Shahil’s families expressed heartfelt gratitude to St Charles College and its dedicated teachers. Their guidance and commitment have been instrumental in the boys’ success. It was especially rewarding to see St Charles College stand out prominently among leading schools across South Africa. It reaffirms the College’s place among the nation’s top academic institutions.
St Charles College proudly congratulates:
- Divaar Pillay, who achieved first place in South Africa for AS Mathematics.
- Shahil Maharaj, who ranked first nationally in both AS Chemistry and AS Physics, also earned the distinction of being the top-performing student in South Africa across four AS subjects.
These remarkable achievements reflect not only the boys’ talent and perseverance but also the College’s enduring commitment to nurturing excellence. Their success is a source of immense pride for the St Charles community and a shining example of distinction on the national stage.
St Charles College is deeply proud of Divaar and Shahil for representing the College with such honour and brilliance. — Mrs Charlotte Pillay, Deputy Head of the Sixth Form College
