South Africans can now check and update their voter registration details online instead of waiting for the upcoming registration weekend scheduled for 20-21 June.
The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has encouraged citizens to use its online platform to verify their information ahead of the 2026 local government elections.
The online voter registration portal, available at https://registertovote.elections.org.za/, allows voters to update their residential addresses and ensure they are correctly assigned to voting stations.
Citizens can also apply for special votes and check the status of their applications through the platform.
IEC chairperson Mosotho Moepya said the online system would help voters participate without delays on election day.

The commission launched its new election logo and tagline “Get Up. Show Up. Vote” on 1 April, marking what it described as an advanced stage of readiness for the polls.
The campaign aims to drive participation, particularly among young voters, whilst promoting shared responsibility in shaping the country’s future.

“The call to action was designed to resonate with citizens in a simple and emotionally engaging way, encouraging them to see voting as part of a broader national effort,” Moepya said.
He described the logo as a symbol of inclusive civic activism and national pride that belongs to all South Africans.
Moepya called on political parties, government bodies and civil society to collaborate in strengthening democracy, stating that cooperation is essential to the success of the electoral process.
The government has not yet announced the date for the local government elections.
The voter registration weekend on 20-21 June will provide an opportunity for those who prefer in-person registration or need assistance with the process.
